I've been hard at work on Emily's office studio for months now but I am happy to report that it is finally finished and I have turned the keys over to her. (You can see a preview of it here.) When she purchased the "cabinette" (or SheShed) it arrived completely unfinished on the inside. I worked to get her electricity and running water (hot water, I might add), added insulation and walls, and installed air conditioning, flooring, cabinets, countertops... the list goes on.
She thanks me just about every time she goes out there and I loved seeing the smile on her face the first time she saw it completely finished. She's been busy getting it all setup just the way she wants it and I'm excited for her that she finally has a space to keep all of her food blog props and camera equipment. (Equally excited to get it all out of the house.) I was pretty surprised when this big box arrived the other day and she told me it was for me as a thank you for all the hard work I did on her shed.
Inside the box was a metal basket full of craft beers, a 16oz pint glass, some cheddar popcorn, a few coozies, and a bottle opener. She knows that I love craft beer and popcorn.
I love trying new craft beers and always try to support local breweries when I can. I appreciated that all of these beers came from California (where The BroBasket is located). IPA (or India Pale Ale) are among my favorites and this sampling from Stone Brewing was on point. All of these were fantastic, but the Hop Revolver IPA was probably my favorite. It was crisp and clean, not too bitter, with fruity and citrus notes.
The next four pack sampling was from another California brewery, one of the oldest in America, Anchor Brewing. I'm still working my way through these, but so far I really enjoyed the Go West! IPA. Not going to lie, I am not a fan of lagers and did not enjoy the California Lager at all.
The last sampling was from Firestone Walker Brewing. I haven't tried the California Pale Ale yet, but the others were "just okay". Enjoyable but probably not something I would purchase.
All in all, it was a really thoughtful gift. I looked up TheBroBasket.com to see what else they offer and they have a lot of different gifts for guys available. Everything from craft beer, fine wines, and spirits... as well as non-alcoholic varieties (coffee, golf, candy, snacks, etc) as well. There's even a "CrossFit" basket which made me laugh; this option comes complete with canned tuna, protein bars, muscle milk, and a shaker bottle. They really do have tons of unique gifts for men, and most all of them can be customized in some way to your preference.
